Cubbie tenders attract Queensland Cotton, PrimeAg

17 Dec, 2009 10:53 AM
A FRESH round of tenders to buy Australia's largest irrigation operation, Cubbie Station in south-east Queensland, has been received.

The Australian Financial Review reports Eastern Australia Agriculture has again shown its enthusiasm but it has some very interesting competition.

Street Talk has learnt that Australia's oldest cotton ginning and marketing organisation, Queensland Cotton, is having a good look at the operation.

But Queensland Cotton may have some competition, too.

The ASX-listed PrimeAg Australia, chaired by Peter Corish, has also shown interest in Cubbie.

PrimeAg has been sitting back with about $40 million to $50 million in the kitty for farm purchases but it will need more than that to buy the entire station which, famously, has a water capacity bigger than Sydney Harbour.
