Davey double set to drive at Ag Show

19 Aug, 2010 10:34 AM
AS THE countdown to the forthcoming Heritage Ag Show begins, more and more machinery companies are announcing new product releases in the latest equipment.

This week Davey Australian Farm Machinery has announced it will release two new products at the forthcoming field days to be held over three days from August 31 to September 2.

One of these will be the AFM-Syra range of double spinner spreaders ranging from 1.5 tonnes to 12 tonnes in capacity with model offerings to handle a full range of spreading requirements from powder and granular to organic materials.

According to the general manager of Davey AFM, Malcolm McKellar, the Syra range represents the latest in technology available to farmers, and harnesses resources from both Argentina and Australian farming conditions.

"It assimilates technologies from both these countries to ensure that the product offers the Australian farmer the maximum advantage in farming applications," Mr McKellar said.

"It is a genetic machine offering trans-industry application."

These spreading systems include either ground drive, PTO drive or Hydraulic drive.

The top of the line machine has a fully independent hydraulic system coupled to a full computer controlled variable rate control system, and allows full utilization of prescription farming techniques and solutions.

The delivery can be by belt or chain depending on the model and application.

All the machines have stainless steel double spinners giving a spreading width up to 36 metres. Other features include adjustable wheel track, roll over tarp, generous wheel dimensions and optional mechanical agitator.

The second will be the AFM-El Grillo chaser bins, which have been developed to Australian farming conditions.

It has been designed to operate using low horsepower tractors, and it doesn't tear up the crop residupe.

"The axle configuration ensures a minimal disturbance of the top soil and residue cover while delivering the bonus of a reduction in the required horse power to operate and manoeuvre the bin," Mr McKellar said.

These bins offer new concepts and new standard characteristics to enhance both the operation and efficiency of this farm function.

This level of functionality ensures the farming community can achieve better outcomes without extra expense at the point of purchase.
