'Lambassador' awards Rode Meats

04 Feb, 2012 04:00 AM
STAFFORD Heights butcher Brad Cammack, Rode Meats, says it's not just the quality of products that entices customers to return through a butcher shop's doors.

While Mr Cammack strives to invest in good products, he and his staff pride themselves on the customer service they provide.

And the third key to success, according to Mr Cammack, is a shop's presentation and display.

On January 19 Mr Cammack and his staff were recognised for their shops presentation, being awarded the inaugural Australia Day lamb shop of the year.

Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) launched the Australia day lamb program this year.

'Lambassador' Sam Kekovich travelled to Brisbane to award Rode Meats as the best themed butcher shop in Queensland.

Mr Cammack said Rode Meats decorate their shop all year around, for events including Australia Day, Easter, and Christmas.

"It looks like this all the time. We like to promote the shop. We promoted our lamb for Australia Day, and won the award - it's fantastic," he said.

Mr Cammack has been with Rode Meats for 31 years, and now employs 12 staff full time.

They source lamb products from Tasmania, beef and pork from the Darling Downs, and Nolan's Meats products from Gympie.

"Everything sells, from sausages to mince, steak to chops," Mr Cammack said.

"Nothing is too much trouble. If we don't have something that a customer wants, we'll try our best to get it."

Mr Kekovich congratulated the Rode Meats team on a wonderful display, which showcased the Australian lamb product to the public, and said the lamb campaign has been fantastic for the industry.

"I've been doing these campaigns for eight years now. Why am I so passionate? Because I'm Australian.

"I'm a country boy at heart, and I share an empathy with our farmers."
