Central Queensland cattle producers have posted a $4000 reward after the theft of 42 prime Brahman/Droughtmaster cross-bred heifers from a Morinish property.
Paul and Margaret Pierce are offering the reward for information leading to the recovery or location of the cattle, worth more than $40,000.
The cattle went missing from their 3000-hectare property, Craignaught, off Glenroy Road, between April 2008 and September 2009.
All the cattle were branded with Mr Pierce's brand, PPA, on the offside rump and had NLIS tags.
"They were all out of the same paddock and were among the pick of our heifers ? they were No.6 and No.7 heifers," Mr Pierce said.
"We never sell store cattle - all our cattle are sold straight to meatworks, so anyone who has seen cattle with our PPA brand should contact police.
"We've spent a lot on bulls and getting our breeders to this point.
"It's a big loss and very frustrating to have this happen."
Detective Senior Sergeant Terry Hanly, northern area co-ordinator for the Stock and Rural Crime Investigation Squad (SARCIS), said he believed the offenders had some local knowledge of the area.
He said the loss of the heifers and their breeding potential was significant for the Pierce family.
"Mr Pierce has also lost seven Brahman/Droughtmaster-cross bullocks," he said.
"Mr Pierce is prepared to supply a reward and I strongly advise anyone with information to come forward."
