MEAT and Livestock Australia’s highly successful Beef Up Forum came to Gin Gin recently, where a solid roll-up of more than 50 beef producers from throughout the region gathered to hear the latest in research and advice in getting the most from their herds.
Geoff Niethe, Northern Beef, MLA chaired the forum which covered a variety of topics including business aspects to consider, reproductive performance, lifting liveweight gains, grazing land management, and production of a grassed product.
There was also discussion on producing beef for MSA grading, plus an update on MLA’s Northern Beef research program.
The special guest to the forum was Greg Brown, president, Cattle Council of Australia (CCA), who gave a review of work the CCA had been involved with, and also fielded questions from the floor.
The forum was rounded off in fine style with a barbecue of MSA beef.
