With Beef Australia 2009 just six months in the past, Rockhampton’s Beef Australia Expo team is already on the road to Beef Australia 2012, with the announcement of a new board of directors at last week’s annual general meeting.
Geoff Murphy has again been elected to the role of chair, a position he has held since 2003.
He will lead a group of committed cattle producers and beef supply chain stakeholders in the planning of Beef Australia 2012.
Mr Murphy said he was pleased to have a considerable degree of continuity around the table with most directors having served at least one previous term on the board.
"It is a big sacrifice when you think of the hours of meetings involved, but the rewards of contributing to something so vital for our industry and the Central Queensland region generally makes it worth while," Mr Murphy said.
Returning directors are:
• chairman Geoff Murphy;
• vice chair Blair Angus;
• vice chair Geoff Maynard;
• treasurer Bryce Camm;
• secretary Joy Deguara;
• committee member Carol Ellrott;
• committee member Andrew Mactaggart;
• committee member Jenny Russell; and
• committee member David Warriner.
Newly elected directors:
• committee member Larry Acton; and
• committee member Brett Kirk.
Beef Australia 2012 already has provisional dates of Monday, May 7, to Saturday May 12.
The Australian Brangus Association will align their 2012 World Brangus Congress with the Expo.
