It was a mixed bag of prices at Queensland's benchmark Roma store sale yesterday, where weaner steers were the highlight hitting 226c/kg.
According to the official market report, in the yarding of 7500 head better quality cattle held similar rates to last week's sale.
But the extremes of the heavier and lighter steers were back in price, while heifers in similar weight ranges gained in price.
Light weaner steers reached 221c/kg, down 14c/kg, while feeder steers returned tops of 218c/kg, up 5c/kg.
Weaner heifers, up to 220kg, reached 199c/kg, up 5c, but the feeder weight range fell 2c from last week's rates to average 171c/kg.
The Roma Store Index now stands at 110.4 points.
Steers in the 400-550kg topped at 205c/kg and averaged 192c/kg (-7), steers in the 350-400kg range topped at 198c/kg and averaged 183c/kg (-4), while steers in the 280-350kg range topped at 218c/kg and averaged 191c/kg (+5).
Weaner steers in the 220-280kg range topped at 226c/kg and averaged 202c (+12), while weaner steers under 220kg topped at 221c/kg and averaged 187c (-14).
Cows in the 300-400kg range topped at 155c/kg and averaged 127c/kg (+6), while cows in the 400-500kg range topped at 175c/kg and averaged 147c/kg (+3).
