THE future faces of the Queensland beef industry have been out in force this week for the 2009 Rockhampton Junior Beef Show at the Rockhampton Showgrounds.
More than 125 whipper-snappers from throughout Queensland attended the three-day event, designed to cater for both beginners and the more advanced in the beef cattle industry.
The group learnt from some of the best in the business about everything beef, including basic cattle handling skills and shed manners, through to the intricacies of NLIS scanning and Artificial Insemination (AI) training using an artificial cow.
Sporting tiny Akubras and a contagious enthusiasm, participants ranging in age anywhere from six to over 16 participated in a huge variety of events including prime cattle judging, junior judging, and junior parading.
