$60,000 high on day two of Brahman Week

07 Oct, 2008 04:22 PM
Bidding has hit a high of $60,000 on day two of the Brahman Week bull sales in Rockhampton, for a 29-month-old Red from the Rockley stud.

Offered by Chris, Sally and Ashley Kirk, Rockley Red Brahmans, Bajool, Qld, the bull was bought by Cameron and Liz Cogill, Double C Red Brahmans, Gogango, Qld.

Rockley 2391 was sired by Tartrus Redmount and weighed in at 922kg.

The early high today follows on from a successful day one of Brahman Week, in which 284 bulls were sold at an average of $6329.

Topping the market yesterday was Bremer Vale Boss Manso, a thumping 35-month-old grey Brahman bull which sold for $35,000.

In only their second year selling bulls at the national sale, vendors Mike and Jenelle Peters, Bremer Vale Brahman stud, Digalong, Rosewood, were thrilled when the bull sold to Ron and Daphne Kirk and family, Yenda Brahman stud, Gayndah.

The Kirks bought full possession and ¾ share of the bull, with the Peters retaining a ¼ share.
