A $60,000 grey Lancefield bull and a $24,000 grey Tartrus heifer topped the McCamley family's annual Tartrus Lancefield Brahman Sale at Gracemere today amid solid bidding from buyers throughout Queensland and beyond.
The sale saw 26 select sires sell for an average of $13,154; 83 sires average $5930; 14 females average $8715; and seven semen lots average $3290.
In total, 130 lots sold to gross over $979,000 and average $7531.
The sale top came early in proceedings when Lot 13, the 22-month-old Lancefield Eugene Manso 4010/1 was bought for $60,000 by Rodger and Lorena Jefferis, Elrose Brahmans, Cloncurry.
By JDH Mr Echo Manso 237/1 (Imp) and out of Lancefield Meryl Lyn Manso 3403, the 833kg milk-tooth bull boasted full Hudgins bloodlines, and scanned with measurements of eye muscle area (EMA) of 134 square centimetres, and rib and P8 rump fat of 9mm and 12mm respectively.
Among the offering of registered females, top price of $24,000 was hit when Brian Hughes, Lanes Creek Brahmans, Georgetown, bought the 15-month-old grey heifer, Tartrus Cindy Manso 6775.
Also boasting full Hudgins bloodlines, the heifer was by JDH Fredrick De Manso (Imp) and out of Tartrus Cindy Manso 6181.
Largest volume buyer on the day was Boyd Curran, who bought 22 bulls for an average of $6045 on behalf of Lawn Hill and Riversleigh Pastoral Company Holding, via Mt Isa.
