AS macadamia growers start to enter one of their busiest times of the growing season, several took time out to learn a thing or two about some tiny enemies.

Bundaberg Fruit and Vegetable Growers in conjunction with Caring for Our Country, presented a pest identification workshop on Macadamia Farm Management’s orchard at Moore Park.

About 50 growers and orchard managers attended the workshop with presentations from experts on what to look for, how to combat pests, and a caution to not kill the beneficial bugs that assist with control.

One session was dedicated to seasonal nutborer patterns and minor pests.

The afternoon also included in-field pest monitoring and identification practice, guided by Hortus Technical Services and the DPI of New South Wales.
