Central Queensland grazier Ron Bahnisch has been voted in as the new chairman of Property Rights Australia, and will focus the group on publicly exposing the level of influence green groups have over government policy.
Mr Bahnisch was elected to the position following the retirement of John Purcell at the weekend's annual general meeting.
The new board held its first meeting last night, which Mr Bahnisch said was "extremely proactive".
"We're going to expose the extreme green influence right through government, particularly in regards to the Vegetation Management Act and also Wild Rivers," Mr Bahnisch told Queensland Country Life.
He said the was "no question" green lobby groups were driving government policy, but said the public needed to "join the dots" between their policies and the environmental consequences.
He cited as an example the opposition of green groups to backburning in Victoria, and the dire consequences of that position, both human and environmental.
Mr Bahnisch said PRA would also be pursuing the issue of the Government restrictive Great Barrier Reef land use regulations.
Other positions determined at last night's board meeting were vice chairman Lee McNicholl, secretary Anne Simpson, and treasurer Joanne Rea.
