Mr Stiller has been in negotiations with the company since it emerged last month that QGC had breached its own code of conduct by building a 600-man accommodation site less than 400m from the landholder's front door.

After the latest meeting on April 8, Mr Stiller said representatives from the gas company had offered compensation, but he could not divulge the details because of a confidentiality agreement.

However, Mr Stiller said the offer did not adequately compensate his family for the additional strain the construction would place on their lives.

"QGC sent me a letter of apology a few weeks ago and I thought it was heartfelt," he said.

"But QGC have not addressed half the issues I have raised with them. What they are offering now is laughable and an insult - they must think I am a fool."

Mr Stiller said he would meet again with QGC on April 28 to discuss further compensation measures.

"They have told me that was only their first offer," he said.

"So hopefully this time they come back with something more reasonable."

QGC said the company was hopeful an agreement that addressed Mr Stiller's concerns could be reached.
