Lucky reader Dianne wins prized pooch

17 Jun, 2010 10:43 AM
DIANNE Ryan says she knew luck was on her side when she entered the Rural Press/Australian Kelpie Muster competition to win Tucker the Kelpie pup.

Coinciding with the iconic working dog festival at Casterton, the competition drew huge interest, with over 10,000 readers entering to win Tucker, bred by Joe Spicer, Gogetta Kelpies, Glenthompson.

And it seems Dianne was right about being lucky – she and her husband Adrian were announced as the winners of Tucker at Casterton on the weekend.

Dianne said from the moment she laid eyes on a picture of the young working pup in Stock & Land she was confident she would win.

Pictured with her brother Graeme Burkitt and their Kelpie dogs, siblings Star and Harry, Dianne said her whole family would share in the win, given their interest in keeping well-bred working dogs.

Tucker will be put to work on her parents’ cattle, sheep and cropping property at Pootilla on the outskirts of Ballarat.
