THE latest “movement” aimed at challenging the State Government’s clearing moratorium and the extreme green movement has a new identity –
Life Source.
Running with the slogan 'Life Source – The land: It's the lifeblood of our future', the group is being spearheaded by a core group of science and marketing professionals.
As reported in last week's Queensland Country Life, a stand-alone group of young landholders was nominated at an AgForce forum in Rockhampton on April 20 to unite Queensland's rural sectors and fight the land clearing moratorium and the bigger green movement's attacks on agriculture through a special fighting fund.
Over the past week the group has rallied around, and now with its own name and brand, aims to have a handful of professionals employed full-time to drive strategies in the campaign starting next week.
Life Source founder and vegetation mapping consultant, Peter Mahony, Woolshed, Theodore, said the group had worked hard over the past week to establish foundations and put "nuts and bolts" in place to push Life Source forward.
"Since last week a lot of professionals have just come to us, people who are involved in some way in agriculture or have a link, and said 'this is what we do, how can we be involved?'" Mr Mahony said.
"We're starting to build that core group of professionals so we can do this professionally.
"It's going at a rate of knots and it's been a busy week, but I'm really confident that it's coming together well."
The movement aims to raise more than $10 million towards funding a multi-faceted education and awareness campaign.
The group will be officially launched in Rockhampton tomorrow.
