Ekka champion steer returns 440c/kg

12 Aug, 2008 11:16 AM
The Ekka prime show and sale exhibited some of the best quality cattle in Queensland and the market responded in kind with excellent prices rewarding vendors' efforts.

Steers generally sold from around 230c/kg to a top of 440c/kg (live) for the trade champion steer.

The grand champion pen of six steers was awarded to Rick and Alice Greenup, Greenup Eidsvold Station, Eidsvold.

The yarding was reduced to 268 head this year with the cost of grain being the number one limiting factor.
