Business as usual AMBRE Energy

Business as usual AMBRE Energy, which plans to build a $3.5 billion coal-to-liquid fuel plant at Felton, south of Toowoomba, does not believe the State Government's strategic cropping policy framework will derail the project.

"The policy framework is a little more advanced than the discussion paper released a little earlier in the year and still doesn't provide us with any definitive answer on whether this project would be ruled out," general manager, business development, Neil McGregor said on Tuesday.

Ambre was continuing as usual with environmental studies, an EIS, and the assessments based on soil reports and drilling.

Mr McGregor said only a very small percentage of the site would be impacted by the policy.

"There is certainly no case to say the project is at risk at this time and we are working through Government has part of our application for significant project declarations on whether small parcels of land within that overall footprint would be considered strategic, and a lot of that will come out of our soils report that we will have in the next few weeks."
