Durack, Dodd take over Stahmann Farms

26 Jun, 2008 10:32 AM
Stahmann Farms chief executive officer, Matthew Durack, and factory general manager Jeff Dodd, have executed an agreement with founder Deane Stahmann to take over the company's Australian farms and factory operations in a management buyout.

Stahmann Farms is the largest grower, processor and exporter of pecans in Australia.

Its flagship farm has over 700ha of producing pecan trees at Moree, NSW, and it owns a processing factory at Toowoomba Queensland.

Pecan production at Moree is around 3000 tonnes a year.

Matthew Durack is one of the well known pioneering Durack family descendents and pecans are a return to the land for the family.

In an agreement with the Australian Pecan Growers Association, Stahmann Farms will also provide ongoing financial support to the Australian pecan industry through a funding deal with the Australian Pecan Growers Association (APGA).

Australian Pecan Growers Association President, Terry Bates, said: "This generous financial contribution from Stahmann Farms, organised by CEO Matthew Durack, and will enable the Australian Pecan Growers Association to enhance the voice of the pecan industry nationally and at the table with other tree nut and horticultural representative bodies.

"It also allows us to improve support services to our members."
