Across the eastern states, all lamb indicators were again dearer this week, up by 10¢ to 26¢/kg carcase weight.
MLA's trade lamb indicator reached 413¢/kg, the heavy lamb indicator 434¢/kg cwt.
In contrast to cattle markets, MLA says the lamb markets remain unusually buoyant for this time of year, with both higher prices and yardings.
Anticipated lower lamb supplies into early 2009, and benefits flowing from the lower $A have seen further jumps of 10-20¢/kg cwt across all the national lamb categories this week.
They're now 32pc (light lambs) to 50pc (heavy lambs) above year ago levels, according to the MLA.
Similarly, the national mutton sheep indicator rose a further 5¢/kg cwt, to be 26pc higher than it was a year ago, with some fall in sheep turnoff, stronger restocker demand and the low $A assisting.
