Competition was keen for the better lines of Angus steer and heifer weaners at Pakenham, Vic, store cattle market yesterday, where a huge increase in numbers saw 1409 steers and heifers, and 346 cows and calves penned.
Helping to swell the numbers were several large consignments not regularly seen at Pakenham, including 250 steer weaners sold by Cobungra Station, Omeo; 206 Wagyu Cows with young calves at foot offered by Mt Wallace Wagy;, and the annual draft of 200 Angus mixed-sex weaners supplied by Camoola, Beveridge, from the north of Melbourne.
A large attendance of buyers were represented from the various Gippsland regions, the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula and local area while several trucks were also sent north to Scone in NSW.
