Red Angus bulls to $14,000 at Dubbo national

08 Jul, 2009 04:39 PM
FIFTEEN bulls averaged $6067 while 19 stud females averaged $3658 at the 10th anniversary Red Angus Show and Sale at Dubbo today, July 8.

After clean-sweeping the show section the Molong based BST Tullatoola stud of Bruno and Marie Schmid topped the sale twice at $14,000 and sold another at $13,000.

Junior and grand champion bull BST Tullatoola Bonnafide C61 by the Canadian sire Red JD Lann Bonafide 119N, made top money first when sold to Jeff and Sue Boland, Claremont red Angus stud, Clunes, Victoria.

This bull was junior champion at the NSW Beef Spectacular in March and reserve champion at Sydney Royal Show.

Senior champion bull, BSTY Tullatoola The Night C18, was purchased by Carmel Bermingham for her Mayfield stud, Whittlesea, Vic.

Senior and grand champion female, RRA Princess Creston with a bull calf at foot shown by the Ramage family of Bundanoon, made $4000 when bought by Hillandale Farm of Robert Dow, Neerim South, Vic.

The Junior champion heifer, Ferndale Park Donna, came from Bob Knott’s Ferndale Park stud, Victor Harbour, South Australia and was sold for top female money of $12,000, as a donation to the Red Angus Society for the promotion of its Feature Breed show at Adelaide Royal Show this year.

She was purchased by Bill Varcoe and Son, Aaron for their recently formed Ace stud based at Beachport, SA.

As the purchaser of BST Tullatoola The Night C18 I am disappointed in your report which fails to acknowledge that he was the equal top-price bull, Snr. Reserve Champion at Sydney Royal and Snr Champion and Grand Champion Red Angus bull at the NSW Beef Spectacular 2009. You acknowledge all for BST Tullatoola Bonnafide C61. I consider that is somewhat unfair to the bull, breeders and purchaser. Carmel Bermingham
