Queensland Senator Barnaby Joyce has urged wheat grower shareholders to vote on the future of AWB at this week's crunch meeting for AWB.
“You cannot complain about the outcome if you do not vote and the opportunity is still there for A class shareholders to clearly show their intention on the future of AWB," Sen Joyce said.
Round three in the battle to keep grower control over the corporate structure of agribusiness giant, AWB Ltd, is likely to result in yet another feisty meeting in Melbourne on Wednesday this week.
Unable to raise enough votes to support its reform plans, AWB management controversially adjourned proceedings during the August vote to remove A-class (grower) shareholders, amid rowdy scenes from its critics at the meeting.
“There is a lot of conjecture about who has voted, who has not voted and a cloud is currently hanging over whether the vote reflects the sentiment as determined by the constitution for the future of AWB," Senator Joyce said.
"The only way to clearly dispel this lack of clarity is for as many as possible to vote this week.
“I urge you all not on how to vote, but to vote.
"Please vote so that the future of AWB is transparent."
