Chicago wheat prices up 3pc overnight

21/08/2008 5:56:00 PM
Chicago wheat futures for delivery Dec 2008 rose by 3pc, to $US8.99/ bus, on Wednesday, on the back of rising corn and soybean markets.

Ongoing concerns over the lack of milling quality wheat for export from Black Sea producers were also bullish for trade on US markets.

And markets also drew some support on reports of further rain delays, which in turn could raise quality issues of the last of the EU wheat harvest.

AWB’s multi grade Australian contract price (based on APW1 flat priced) for the 08-09 season are also higher today at:

• $383.00 – Newcastle

• $383.00 – Port Kembla

• $378.00 – Geelong

• $371.00 – Portland

• $378.00 – Brisbane

• $370.00 – Gladstone

• $355.00 – Port Adelaide

• $355.00 – Port Lincoln

AWB’s 08-09 canola price today is down $1, to $647/ tonne, based on 42pc oil, delivered Geelong.
