The restructure of the cotton industry’s two key representative bodies will be on the agenda at the Australian Cotton Conference on the Gold Coast next month.
Cotton growers from all valleys are invited to participate to provide feedback on a proposed merger of Cotton Australia and the Australian Cotton Growers' Association (ACGRA).
"As part of our consultations with industry, Cotton Australia will be seeking input from members and growers on this new direction for industry, which will bring together the two key grower-representative bodies," Cotton Australia chair Joanne Grainger said.
"The new organisation will be a united leadership body with strong grower representation, to steer the industry through its challenges of the next decade and beyond.
"We'll also be able to work more closely with our research partners, share resources and find some efficiencies which are necessary during difficult times like we've been experiencing over the last five years."
The Cotton Australia Board will also undergo some changes, with long-term director and cotton grower from the Namoi Valley, Mike Carberry, stepping down and current chair, Joanne Grainger, up for re-election.
Moree cotton grower Lyndon Mulligan will stand for the board unopposed.
The Cotton Australia AGM will be held on August 12 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
