Abbott attempts to shed 'sceptic' tag

09 Aug, 2010 11:38 AM
Tony Abbott has sought to attract what all parties regard as a growing protest vote in this election, with a direct personal appeal to those planning to vote for the Greens.

According to The Australian Financial Review, he has appealed to "people thinking of voting Green" by saying he shared their "concerns for the future of our country and fully accept that we have only one planet to live on".

Mr Abbott's strategy is also to try to maximise the Coalition's Senate hold, but there have been few new measures in his pitch for the green vote.

In his campaign launch speech he reaffirmed he would prepare for an emissions reduction fund and begin recruiting for a "green army" to help farmers and park rangers with environmental projects.

If we consumers are going to be lumbered with a carbon tax based on playing computer games with temperature statistics, does it really matter which political party perpetrates the act? I fail to see that it does on the grounds that which ever cockerals crow as bureaucrats dictate, the cost of living wiil continue to soar like larks on a spring morning except the song will not be sweet.
