Competition among restockers was especially strong strong for the sale of several very good quality lines of weaner steers.

The Roma Store Index, however, fell 1.4 points to 98.8 points.

• Steers in the 400-550kg range topped at 175c/kg and averaged 163c/kg (+0).

• Steers in the 350-400kg range reached 176c/kg and averaged 168c/kg (-3).

• Steers in the 280-350kg range topped at 209c/kg and averaged 176c/kg (-5).

• Weaner steers in the 220-280kg range topped at 220c/kg and averaged 198c/kg (+3).

• Weaners under 220kg topped at 218c/kg and averaged 197c/kg (+2).

Heifers were generally firm, with those in the 350-450kg range reaching 154c/kg and averaging 143c/kg (-4), heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 167c/kg and averaged 147c/kg (+0), heifers in the 220-280kg range reached 168c/kg and averaged 153c/kg (+1) while weaner heifers under 220kg topped at 173c/kg and averaged 158c/kg (+2).

Cows over 500kg sold to 131c/kg and averaged 127c/kg (-3), cows in the 400-500kg range reached 142c/kg and averaged 127c/kg (-4) while cows in the 300-400kg ranged topped at 133c/kg and averaged 109 (-9).

Cows and calves sold from $500/unit to $820/unit.
