 Farmer wants a wife...er, husband

Farmer wants a wife...er, husband

25/09/2008 2:53:00 PM
The hit Channel Nine series Farmer Wants a Wife will take a twist in series three, with possibly two female farmers putting their hands up to find love on national television.

"In this coming series, as well as our usual male farmers, we will also feature one or two female farmers," the show's website states.

"She will be looking to find herself a husband.

"So, if you are a single man who'd move to the country for the love of a female farmer, don't hesitate to apply."

One of the girls in question is 'Farmer Shona', 26, who hails from a cattle station in the Douglas Daly region of the Northern Territory.

"I definitely bring good conversation, friendship and fun," Shona says on the website.

"I always think outside the square and find a solution or even make one.

"I'll do whatever it takes and will not give up — that comes from being brought up in the bush, making do with what you have around you, and making it work."

She says she's looking for a man who is "comfortable in his own skin, sure of himself, easygoing, and has common sense".

"A man who is somewhat sophisticated would be preferable, and who can also handle hard work, extreme heat, blood, dirt and poo," she says.

The other possible contender is known as 'Farmer Jenny', 32, from Tumbarumba, NSW.

She says she would "love to meet someone outgoing and honest who has preferably grown up on a farm or works in agriculture".

"I don't believe I can quote a specific set of qualities that I'd prefer in one person," she says.

"Individuals may not necessarily have any of the qualities that you admire but the relationship can still work.

"I'm not looking for a mail-order husband, just someone down-to-earth who's willing to live on the land and adapt to farm life."

The series follows a handful of Australian farmers as they are introduced to willing city women - and in this case men - who are keen to head bush to find love.

Hi, That sounds like a great idea. I'm in a very similar situation, single mother, loving the country life, except I am willing to move to a farmer's property and live out west with him.

Although I love animals, hard work, mustering, getting dirty, I dont consider my small property a farm.

Beautiful girl, but is this your average, everyday woman of the outback?

I think Shona would be a good catch. She looks and sounds fun and honest. But would she move from her farm to mine?
