World farm leaders summit in Australia

8/11/2008 3:00:00 AM
The National Farmers’ Federation will be hosting the executive committee meeting of the International Federation of Agricultural Producers (IFAP) next week in Canberra, with delegates from South America, Europe, the Middle East, Canada, Africa and Asia.

The NFF has been involved with IFAP, the world farmers’ peak organisation, for many years and is an active member of its executive committee, participating in several of its commodity committees.

With populations growing globally lifting the demand for food, while, at the same time, droughts have been prevalent globally, food shortages will continue to be an ongoing, serious problem.

So it is timely that world farmers are meeting to discuss how they can work together to share from each other’s expertise, the NFF says.
