The Aussie dollar has again reached a 25-year high overnight, breaking the US98 cent mark earlier this morning.
The dollar reached a high of US98.49c, which has been attributed to an official acknowledgement by the US Federal Reserve that the nation's financial institutions are under "considerable stress".
As a result the outlook for the US economy as a whole remains bleak.
The dollar has since slipped back below the US98c mark to be trading in the high US97 cent range.
