$A slides to US78.4c, then lifts back to US79c

18/09/2008 6:45:00 PM
The Australian dollar, associated with risk-heavy investment strategies, received a momentary reprieve this morning from the beating it has taken at the hands of risk-weary investors.

The $A spiked to US80.23c, after opening near its March 2007 lows at US78.40c on Thursday morning.

Then, in later trade, it had eased again by 1pm, to US79.1c.
